RSOP Companion NFT: What You Need to Know
It’s no secret I’m a fan of the Royal Society of Players (RSOP). I own 22 cards, and I’m constantly considering bumping my bag up to even more. This is a project I truly believe in. Lucky for me, next week, my collection will double!
Sort of.
This Friday, September 3rd, people will be able to start claiming their RSOP Companions – one for every RSOP card they own. The “companions” will be poker chips with varying rarities designed by Oban Jones, the talented artist who did the art for the RSOP cards.
The Details
- Beginning on Friday, September 3rd at 5:00pm EST all owners of our Royal Society of Players cards will be able to claim their companions from the website – you just pay gas.
- There will be a one-week open window for claiming.
- There will be 16 “Priceless” Chips which are significantly more rare, desirable, and valuable than the rest.
- There is no advantage to minting order – so you don’t need to rush to mint. Minting will be randomized for all collectors.
- A “mint all” option will be available, so I’ll be able to mint all 22 of mine at once. This is HUGE for me, especially because they’re in my cold storage wallet, so minting one at a time would be pretty laborious.
- The website will offer a tool to demonstrate which NFTs have had the companions already claimed, to transparently support secondary buyers who may be looking for that information.
- You can see a sneak peek of the art here.
My Take
Not much to say here – I’m a fan of the project so I’ll continue to stan for it. I fully believe that the team will find creative ways to drive value and utility with these poker chips, while ensuring their OG NFTs hold value. The poker chips expand the RSOP world to more people, which is great for the community. It also gives this extremely smart and creative team more toys in their innovative toybox to play with. I can’t wait to see what comes next.
