Coffee with Captain week 5 is in the books and we missed Captain Zwingli. Shoutout to Riggs and Papii for holding it down in the co-host spot this week. We touched on ordinals and the Quantum Cats mint that was delayed. Pudgy Penguins make another splash in web3 with project Overpass IP. Culture may be discussed a lot, but can you ever really have too much of it? We saw the Jupiter Exchange launch with crazy price action, followed by FUD due to a misunderstanding. Doodles are cooking again as they look to upgrade their watch game.
In case you missed any of the shows, below is a small recap of each day with links to the podcast on Apple and Spotify. Links to other streaming platforms can be found on our buzzsprout page. Check out the timestamp if you want to catch the specific interviews.
Monday
Quantum Cats + Ordinals Ecosystem
The Quantum Cats upcoming mint on Bitcoin was the talk of the town, but they ended up delaying their mint until next Monday. This collection is considered “can’t miss” by some due to its connection to Taproot Wizards. The collection is unique because it’s actually the secondary collection minting before the primary. Is the mint price justified?
Who cares about ordinals? The Bitcoin ordinals ecosystem is still building out and it’s not certain what the future will look like. However, ordinals have brought more attention and use cases to the chain. It’s absolutely worth keeping your eyes on.

Tuesday
Overpass NFT Licensing Platform
Overpass IP is finally here, as Pudgy Penguins released the beta version. Now, the question becomes will the benefit holders on an individual level? Overpass can be seen as a long term vision and a collaborative opportunity for holders. This program should help build the Pudgy’s awareness, which will benefit the individual holder and web3 in as a whole.
The Coffee Crew also touched on scaling. This becomes an issue regardless of web2 or web3. It’s important to remember not every project will massively scale. Not every project even wants to scale to the largest brand in the world. Businesses come in all shapes and sizes.

Wednesday
The Importance of Culture in Web3
It seems to be talked about often. Some people even consider culture within web3 a silly thing, but it’s an important aspect of building community and a brand. So how do you build culture within web3? We need to move from community gathering to community/IP development. This will improve as web3 matures.
Gabe Weis joins us for the weekly Anti-Stoic Spectacle, where he collaborates with the community for the web3 topic of the week. This week we settled on the cat and mouse game between Quantum Cats + Quantum Mice. With the delayed mint of Quantum Cats, Quantum Mice appeared on Solana and took off.

Thursday
Web3 Gaming Dynamics + Jupiter Exchange FUD
The $JUP airdrop was one of the most anticipated airdrops recently, but where did all the FUD come from. There were some misconceptions around $JUP’s tokenomics and the launch pool. People didn’t understand the tokens in the launch pool needed to sell out at a specific price point (~70 cents).
Where is all the liquidity within crypto? There’s speculation that money is/will be tied up in Blast and Portal. Even after the tokens drop it’s not a certainty the liquidity flows into the market. Users will be incentivized to keep liquidity on their respective platforms.
Web3 gaming doesn’t just live on X, it’s a global phenomenon. There’s a lot going on behind the scenes that we don’t even see. Gaming companies are always looking at acquiring new players and now there are gamers who have an affinity for an NFT brand. What are web3 companies doing to penetrate the casual gaming market?

Friday
Doodles Cooking + Defining a Degen
Doodles keep on bringing the heat. They gained another partnership, this time with G-Shock. The community is also vibin’ as a community member went on a grail sweeping spree. It’s funny what a year and improved communication can do for a well capitalized brand with good leadership.
Doodles’ recent trajectory sparked a larger discussion on what it means to be a degen. How do we define it? Is being a degen a good thing? Lastly, the Bored Ape Yacht Club seems to be back on track. Yuga Labs is ramping up their community support and their members are loving it. We have to give Yuga their props on listening and responding well. Hopefully they’re able to keep it up.
