It’s week 17 of Coffee with Captain and Bitcoin Runes have been released. Did it generate the excitement that everyone was promising? We also see Ethereum NFTs make a run up, especially BAYC and MAYC. Don’t get too swept up in the hype just yet though if you missed the initial price increase. We also had a week full of great interviews with 6079.ai, Coin Coffee, Liquidium, Red Bull Racing and Wicked Craniums. It was an information-filled week.
In case you missed any of the shows, below is a small recap of each day with links to the podcast on Apple and Spotify. Links to other streaming platforms can be found on our buzzsprout page. Check out the timestamp if you want to catch the specific interviews.
Monday
Bitcoin Runes: How’s It Going?
Monday touches on the weekend news like usual. Mutant Ape Yacht Club had begun its price run up over the weekend. We also talked briefly about some characters with the X app space. The run up of MAYC has Cap excited, but one member of the Coffee Crew believes historical NFT collections won’t ever reach 50% of previous all-time highs. His supporting argument is the level of split attention in the current climate and honestly it’s a good point. Only time will tell though.
We also touch on Bitcoin ordinals and runes. Steve believes ordinals mints are basically running the old Ethereum playbook. There were a lot of new mints where the price went up initially, but most dropped below mint price relatively quickly. Runes were an interesting conversation to discuss. It could be considered a failure, but most people hadn’t even bought one yet. There are still many people who don’t know how to buy or sell them. I’m not sure I’ll take the dive into the ecosystem.

Protecting the Future of AI with 6079
Frank is taking the DeGods collection back to Solana. It’s been a journey for Frank and there are mixed emotions on the move. What would I do in his position? I’m not even sure, but the Coffee Crew gives their varying perspectives with the information they have.
Later on the show we’re joined by Jesse Bryan and Mikey Anderson, team members of 6079.ai, to discuss the shifting landscape surrounding AI. The 6079 Protocol is designed to keep AI in the hands of the many, not the few. We’re in a world where the truth is very difficult to see due to AI. The ability to generate new things that aren’t true is becoming infinite. 6079 is the captcha for GPUs working to eliminate bad actors.
The interview is pretty technically heavy, so I suggest tuning into the interview portion to get the full extent. The biggest takeaway is 6079 is trying to connect with people and build a cohesive community to keep AI decentralized. They will be gamifying socials and incentivizing people to get educated on AI. This will create awareness and solve a critical problem surrounding AI.

Wednesday
Bitcoin DeFi with Liquidium + Coin Coffee Collabs
Wednesday begins with a discussion around virtual spaces and the metaverse. What can we expect the future to look like? Later on the show we’re joined by two special guests. First we have a talk with Curtis from Coin Coffee. His company is working on delivering additional value on top of the products they’re selling through NFTs and web3 technology. Curtis is currently in collaboration with Ishita Banerjee, so definitely check that out here. Coin Coffee has a commitment to artists and they show it by giving $4 of every bag sold back to artists.
Later we’re joined by Robin, CEO & Cofounder of Liquidium, to learn about the DeFi platform for the Bitcoin ordinals ecosystem. This lending/borrowing platform is an opportunity to lend out your Bitcoin and earn a yield or grab a little extra liquidity through ordinals. The Bitcoin network is extremely slow when it comes to transactions and there are only 2.8k active wallets on Liquidium. Where they have succeeded though is in volume. The active wallets are doing extreme amounts of volume and checking the platform at a high rate. This sounds like a recipe for success. This is one platform I hope to experiment with in the future.

Thursday
Red Bull Racing with $SPEED + 3D BAYCs
Bored Ape Yacht Club holders got a 3D version of their NFTs and it seemed to take over the timeline. Does this mean BAYC is going to 100 eth? Of course not, but it provides more tools for those holders looking to create more content. Yuga needs to continue to stack small wins and this is certainly a win based on community sentiment.
Later we’re joined by Dan Mitchell, team member of Red Bull Racing, to discuss their venture into web3. Red Bull Racing using someone native to web3 to head up the charge is always a positive. RBR’s upcoming release, Velocity Pass 2.0, will be powered by the DN404 technology utilizing $SPEED. There was a lot of success with RBR’s first installment in 2023 and they’ll once again use AOI to help curate artists for the drop. The reason for using DN404s is to allow multiple customer entry points into the RBR ecosystem and have easier access to liquidity. I’ll be watching the implementation of DN404s in a more well known brand.

Friday
Wicked Craniums: Elevate Your Festival Experience
Ethereum NFTs are having a run up and the vibes are high running into the community. What sparks this move? I’m not completely sure. There are also rumors of Blast creating an incentivized marketplace. So will this be a big catalyst for liquidity on Blast? This drives a larger discussion about the dynamics of NFT farmers across various collections and networks.
Later we’re joined by Caruso, member of Wicked Craniums, to learn how they’re turning ticket stubs into time capsules that unlock rewards with TruSTUB. Wicked Wristbands is the current release that will act as a skeleton key to the evolution of events. It can be thought of as a mint pass to use for events or burned for utility. Wicked Craniums is reinterpreting, reimagining and evolving how people ticket for an event through a PFP collection. The Wicked Wristband will be used to attend Bone Shake ‘24, the definitive degen festival in Vegas this year.
