It’s week 21 of Coffee with Captain and we watched Ethereum go on a moon mission as the likelihood of Ethereum ETFs increased, and were eventually approved. This is another big step for crypto to move into the mainstream. The week was also full of discussion about Memeland, Blaze, real world assets and Wolf Game. If that combination doesn’t get you interested, then I don’t know what will.
In case you missed any of the shows, below is a small recap of each day with links to the podcast on Apple and Spotify. Links to other streaming platforms can be found on our buzzsprout page. Check out the timestamp if you want to catch the specific interviews.
Monday
Memeland, Blaze on Blast & Content Creators
Blaze is a no code, NFT launchpad that will have an option for refundable NFTs. We talk a little bit about this social PVP game that rewards its users with Blast Gold. Users have to post content about or related to Blaze AND get reposted by the main Blaze account. The reward payout is based on impressions on your post. It’s almost like a variation of the X payout structure. The prize pool of 30k Gold is a pretty good one. The first reward block will be over by the time this recap releases, but a team member of Blaze plans to join the show soon.
We spoke about Wolf Game’s migration to blast and interviewed GFunk on Friday, so I’ll put all the information under Friday. It seems like a no-brainer to move to Blast, so why aren’t more people doing it? Maybe people are worried about what happens when Blast Gold runs out.
Steve also gives us a rundown on Memeland and $MEME, the native token. Memeland has built in Stakeland as part of the utility. You place $MEME in a staking contract and you’ll earn steaks. At the end of each you’ll have a social farming scenario (follows, posts, etc.). Memeland recently entered a partnership with Mon Protocol. Right now, you can stake $MEME, get steaks and later burn them for $MON. This creates exposure, improves holders of the token and provides utility. Ray continues to be one of the top founders in the space.

Potential Ethereum ETF Approval + CryptoPunks Chaos
The Ethereum ETF approval was upgraded from 25% to 75% resulting in an absolute turbo pump with Ethereum reaching its highest daily candle ever. What made the anti-crypto people lay off? It’s an election year and it seems people are realizing the anti-crypto platform was going to be a net loss in their efforts. It’s important to remember that if you’re active in this space, then stay locked in and be patient. The opportunity has been here.
CryptoPunks had some major chaos. Well respected artist, Nina Chanel, and her Super Punks World collection was met with a lot of pushback from the CryptoPunks community. The Coffee Crew dropped a few different perspectives on the topic. There was 100% some unwarranted and disgusting hate being spewed on the X timeline. Yuga’s approach was also poorly executed when trying to release this drop. Listen to the show and find out some suggestions on how to better integrate artists from the Punks in Residence into the CryptoPunks ecosystem.

Real World Assets & Positioning Your Portfolio
We briefly discussed the Ethereum ETF’s likelihood and how close it seems to be. With that in mind, the Coffee Crew shared their thoughts on portfolio positioning. As always, none of this is financial advice, but sometimes it’s nice to see where some people’s heads are at. The proposed crypto legislation also caused us to dip our toes into government regulations.
Later in the show we dug into Real World Assets (RWAs) with Tom Tger (To The Moon Cards & Collectibles) and Joey Vowels (The Colony). As crypto and blockchain technology slowly creeps its way into everyday use, the benefits of RWAs become more attractive. Specifically, To The Moon Cards & Collectibles had a 125 VeeFriends drop on Courtyard. Tom and Joey talked about RWAs being a great way to merge web2 and web3 together.

Is Community Just a Buzzword in Web3?
A combination of astronomical expectations combined with a lack of execution has made Moonbirds one of the most controversial NFT projects we’ve seen. To this day, the project evokes a lot of emotion from people within the NFT space. Shiba King has been a huge advocate for Moonbirds, but a disappointment in leadership and lack of community support has changed his mind. The Coffee Crew engages in a larger conversation about the “web3 community” and if it’s even real.
Steve says “A lot of people use community as a buzzword and don’t want to do the community work.” I would agree. The web3 space is a mix of financially motivated individuals, community-driven individuals and a combination of the two. It’s important to make an honest assessment of which type you are and understand that not everyone is like you. This will allow you to make smart long-term decisions.

Friday
Wolf Game’s Migration to Blast with GFunk
Last night five NFT founders met on an X space. Frank (DeGod’s), Garga (Yuga Labs), Luca (Pudgy Penguins), Ray (Memeland), Zagabond (Azuki) came together to talk about leadership roles within web3. It was one episode of a short series planned by Adrian Newman. The overall consensus was that it was positive for web3 and there’s hope it doesn’t stop with Thursday night. Riggs, special guest co-host, also shares a sneak peak into a project he’s working on called Treeo. The social app is based on the game Buy, Sell, Burn and we played with the Coffee Crew live to have a little bit of fun.
Later we’re joined by GFunk, CEO of Wolf Game, to talk about the game’s migration to Blast. GFunk deposited ETH into Blast from day 1 and continued to watch the behaviors of people who were drawn to Blast. These gambling prone users (let’s be honest we all are in crypto) are exactly the type of demographic of a Wolf Game player. The move from ETH mainnet was not done lightly and the team made sure the community would enjoy the move to Blast. Ultimately, GFunk believes in Pacman (Tieshun Roquerre), the Blast team and their ability to make a product users will want to use long-term.

Wrap Up
That’s a wrap for week 21 of Coffee with Captain. The biggest news of the week was the Ethereum ETF being approved! In my opinion, this was another step in the right direction for crypto adoption. Exposure, exposure, exposure. We had a nice balanced week with discussions about Memeland, Blaze, Wolf Game and RWAs. Shoutout to Riggs for filling in as a cohost on Friday. If you missed week 20, make sure to check it out here.
