It’s hard to believe we’ve been through 2 months of Coffee with Captain already. Yuga continues to win the news this week as Daniel Alegre is out and Garga is back in as CEO. And with that he brought another interesting surprise for the BAYC ecosystem. We also discuss if Elon will ever make the X app better. Speaking of social media, we talk about social strategies for big name projects like Pudgy Penguins, VeeFriends, Doodles and more. Also, don’t miss out on our interview with Tetra from OD Labs. We round out the week by discussing leveraging trading your NFTs. It’s a dangerous game, but it can be very lucrative if done well.

Monday
Aftermath of Yuga Acquiring Proof & Moonbirds
Monday we talked about the aftermath of Yuga acquiring Proof/Moonbirds. Many were upset at the initial announcement, but how do people feel now? Many people originally questioned “why” and trashed the acquisition, partially due to Kevin Rose’s involvement. This week, some are singing a different tune and we get opinions from both perspectives.
Yuga’s acquisition did land some talent from the Proof/Moonbirds ecosystem and gave them access to the art culture. We also talk about the interesting price increase ahead of the news, resulting in someone getting a nice exit pump.

Elon Destroying X App + The Future of Mixed Media
Is the X app failing? The X app (formerly Twitter) has changed significantly since Elon took over. X has an opportunity to be a great content platform, but it hasn’t reached its potential yet. Is Elon trying to do too much at once? In our opinion, the focus needs to be on core functionality before adding in the little changes.
Later we’re joined by Tetra to talk about ODLabs’ spatial computing and mixed media. Tetra is an artist first. In his opinion, the future is extended reality (XR) and he’s seen big companies battling for a multi-trillion dollar emerging market. The time may not be now, but he envisions the industry will replace phones, ipads, etc. There is limitless potential in the world of mixed reality.

Social Strategies for VeeFriends, Pudgy Penguins & More
Social strategies play a significant role in the success of a brand. On Wednesday, we took a look at a few brands to compare their strategies and target audiences. Pudgy Penguins is obviously one of the leaders in the GIF game and the first NFT brand to really break into the mainstream. What will it take for other NFT projects to do the same? Gary V even stopped by and gave his take on VeeFriends.
Why don’t NFT projects have better ways to welcome new members to their community to improve retention rates of individuals? Especially those who may be disconnected from discord or crypto X. The Coffee Crew gives some sharp takes on the topic. From Blur farmers, to welcome packets, to time bound tokens and more.

Thursday
The Launch of BAYC LLC + Garga’s Return
Source: ApeofPoland on X app
Daniel Alegre is stepping back as CEO of Yuga and Garga makes his return. The excitement in the ecosystem was palpable. What are the pros and are there any cons to Garga coming back? As much as Daniel Alegre was appreciated, he was never really the right fit for the community surrounding the Bored Ape Yacht Club. There just seemed to be a cultural disconnect. Also, Otherside news also dropped. Was Otherside a failure or is there still hope for it? Only time will tell

Leverage Trading NFTs + 10KTF Left for Dead?
Leverage trading can be a dangerous game, but it can also be a valuable tool. How can you utilize this tool to your advantage? Leverage requires a certain amount of skill and a whole lot of discipline. If you’re new to leverage trading, then I encourage you to start paper trading (fake trades) and study the market. You can get wrecked before you know it if you’re not careful.
What in the world happened to 10KTF? It has been long believed that Yuga only acquired 10KTF for their tech (warm wallet). Since that acquisition, the project seems left for dead. Outsiders say the community is too complex. That sparks some interesting thoughts about web3 acquisitions vs web2 acquisitions. Community comes along with the projects in web3, but how do you align motives with investors and community?
