What is Pepe on Solana?
Pepe the Frog is a well known internet meme created by cartoonist Matt Furie. Pepe has always been deep-rooted within the crypto community, but in early 2023 a token had yet to make its way into the crypto world. Pepe ($PEPE) was first deployed on the Solana network on January 21st, 2023, but what makes it so special compared to all the rest?
Pepe on Solana actually outpaced Pepe on the Ethereum network by a full 3 months. Ethereum has always been seen as the superior chain for NFTs and memecoins, but this was different. In 2023, Solana began to gain some traction and DollarDream decided to take action and front-run the whole memecoin craze during 2023.
Who is DollarDream?
DollarDream started crypto in 2012 at the young age of 12 years old. When dogecoin became popular in 2013-2014, the mematic nature really resonated with him. As a user primarily of the Solana network, the blockchain’s growth mixed with DollarDream’s passion for memes was the perfect combination an amazing memecoin.
One of the key differences with Pepe on Solana is the homage they pay to Matt Furie’s Pepe. The artists from Pepe on Solana put his own unique style on the art, unlike derivatives that do a straight carbon copy. This both honors the OG artists and the Pepe way.
The Launch of Pepe on Solana
In the Solana streets, Bonk modeled the way to spread your tokens by airdropping small amounts into a lot of wallets. So that’s what DollarDream did. Pepe was airdropped to 8k wallets from various NFT collections on Solana. The first week of their launch they hit 1m market cap on Solana, which was a big deal at the time because no memecoins were really doing that. People really saw something in Pepe even back when it first launched.
The team created a Pepe Flip dApp, which gave holders the opportunity to win more Pepe while also encouraging the burn of supply. In total Pepe on Solana has burned ~35% of the supply. Now, the team is working on establishing a Solana validator node to secure the blockchain through memes! This ensures the team is committed to Solana and doesn’t plan to leave anytime soon. Very few projects/memecoins have done this.
Not only did this team launch the original Pepe memecoin, but they survived a bear market. The team stayed engaged throughout the bear, even when there were only a few holders to entertain. You can scroll back through Pepe’s X profile and see the periodic posts to stay engaged.
The LP of Pepe has already been burnt (see transaction). It is already listed on both CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap. Recently Pepe achieved a price of ~0.036 cents and an ATH of ~25m market cap. The holder base only continues to grow as Pepe fast approaches ~31k unique holders.
Join the Pepe Community
What does every successful memecoin need? It needs a good story and a great community. Pepe on Solana has both. Pepe fatigue is real and there are a lot of variations of Pepe coin on a multitude of chains. However, not many realized Pepe on Solana was the original token to start it all.
The community isn’t looking to FUD the Pepe on Ethereum, but instead bring light to what they’ve accomplished. The community is driven by internet culture and the desire to reign supreme out of all the memecoins in crypto. Join the telegram and see for yourself.
Conclusion
DollarDream, a 24 year old Army veteran who has been in crypto since he was 12, front ran the whole Solana meme run and many people don’t even realize it. The revitalization of Pepe on Solana will only continue to grow as more people learn its origin story. If Ethereum’s Pepe can soar to the heights that they did, then why can’t Pepe on Solana? This is the Pepe way and all are welcome!
